Cromer Fencing Club is proud to report a successful outing to the Eastern Region Youth Championships 2026, held in Stevenage on Saturday 24th January. Eric Fenner, Ida Petch and Eve Allen represented the club brilliantly.
In the Under 16 Mixed Epee, Eric fenced well in the poules to placed 4th going into the direct elimination round. His first DE was a 15-4 victory over 5th seed to secure a medal. Eric then drew the 1st seed, taking 6 points off him before being eliminated. This was a great improvement for Eric on the previous year's result of 9th.

Eve and Ida competed in the Under 14 Women's Epee, this being their first regional competition. Eve fenced fantastically and achieved a number of very close losses in the poules, with Ida winning all but one of her bouts. Going into the U14 tableau, Ida was placed 1st and Eve was placed 6th.
Eve went into her DE bout with real determination, almost eliminating the eventual gold medallist, but was unfortunately eliminated 12-10 in an absolutely nail-biting bout! Ida went on to win her semi-final bout 12-9, earning herself a place in the final. She fenced a tough final, but her opponent was victorious winning 12-7.
The club is incredibly proud of our fencers. Eric did an amazing job showing just how much he's improved in the last year. For Ida and Eve, this was their first regional competition. Moreover, all three of our fencers who entered have qualified for the British Youth Championships in May 2026 where they will represent Eastern Region.
